There are two main installation methods of rivet nuts: pressure rivet nuts and pull rivet nut. Specific steps and caveats are as follows:
Rivet rivet nut mounting compaction method.
Preparation
Tool selection: Select matching press or manual press according to plate thickness and nut specification.
Sheet metal testing: Ensure sheet metal meets requirements (e.g., low-carbon steel sheet hardness less than 70RB, stainless steel less than 80RB).
Drilling: Drilling holes a metal plate to match the outer diameter of a compacting nut. Tolerance should be between 0 and +0.075mm. Punching is recommended to ensure accuracy.
Installation Steps
Nut placement: Place the compression nut in a lower die fixture to ensure that the nut is flush with the hole depth in the fixture.
Sheet metal positioning: align the sheet metal hole with the pressing nut and place it on the fixture to maintain the sheet metal level.
Compression: press the nut head evenly, using a compacting or manual tool, so that the compacted teeth are embedded in the metal. The surrounding material is plastically deformed and flows into the guide groove, forming a locking effect.
Quality Inspection: After installation, check whether the nut is solid, the surface is smooth and the thread is smooth.
Preventive measures:
Vertical Pressure Application: During riveting, the tool should be perpendicular to the metal plate to avoid tilting and causing nut deformation or loosening.
Pressure control: Adjust pressure according to metal thickness and nut specification to avoid cracking or nut deformation due to excessive pressure.
Avoid impact: Riveting operations must be performed with specialized equipment; do not hit and drive nuts with hammers or other tools.
ii. Rivet Nut Installation Method
Prepare:
Tool selection: Select matching a matching pneumatic or manual rivet gun according to the nuts, along with corresponding gun head and bolts.
Drill: Drill a rivet-sized hole in a steel plate. The aperture must be processed in strict accordance with the parameters provided by the manufacturer.
Cleaning holes: Use a brush or compressed air to clean iron filings and hole debris to ensure installation quality.
Installation Steps:
Placement Nut: insert the smooth cylindrical part of the rivet nut into the pre-drilled hole in front of the sheet metal.
rivet gun: Attach rivet gun to threaded end of nut (mandrel is connected to the annular groove) to ensure a reliable connection.
Activate Rivet: Activate rivet gun. The head of the gun is clipped to the axis of the heart and pulled back. The holster compacts the nut body and sheet metal surface. The tail of the nut is plastically deformed by continuous tugging and expands into a bulging bulge at the back of the plate, locking the plate in place.
Installation complete: When the tension reaches a set value, the mandrel breaks at the neck groove. Remove rivet gun and install.
NOTE: Vertical operation: When riveted, the head of the gun should be perpendicular to the metal plate to prevent uneven forces from causing the nut to tilt or loosen.
Adjust stroke: Adjust the lever angle and scale ring of the rivet correctly according to the length of the nut deformation or displacement to ensure installation quality.
RESULTS: After installation, check whether the riveted joint is strong, the back surface is fully formed and the thread is smooth and undamaged.
III. General Precautions
Tool Matching: choose suitable tool and nozzle according to nut specification and plate thickness to avoid installation failure or nut damage due to tool incompatibility.
Safety of operation: When using pneumatic tools, follow operating procedures and wear protective glasses and gloves to prevent metal shavings.
Quality Inspection: After installation, check whether the nut is solid, the surface is smooth and the thread is smooth to ensure that the connection quality meets requirements.
