The application principle of the splint nut

Preset hole preparation:

Predrill or flush out a hole in the sheet material with an aperture slightly smaller than the outer diameter of the splint nut to ensure tight fit.

Stud installation:

Place the splint nut into the preset hole, and the tail of the nut (usually with jagged or rolled flowers) is in contact with the plate.

Compressing riveting process:

Apply pressure to the splint nut using a special pressure riveting tool. Under the action of pressure, the nut tail has plastic deformation, and the outward expansion and closely occludes the plate.

The serrated or crobled design of the nut increases friction with the plate to prevent loosening and form a permanent connection:

After the riveting, the nut and the plate form a firm mechanical connection, which can withstand a certain tension and torque.

The splint nut is firmly connected with the thin plate material through mechanical deformation, which has the advantages of simple installation, no welding, one side operation and high strength. Its application principle is based on the plastic deformation and friction design under pressure, and is widely used in electronics, automotive, aerospace, architecture, furniture and other industries.
